is it safe to use tea-light candles without a candle holder?
i have a lot of gnats in my house and i've noticed they fly right into the wax and get stuck. i want to place a few candles all around my kitchen to kill some gnats, but i only have a few candle-holders. can i just set the actual candles on the counter? does the metal get too hot to be placed on certain surfaces? is it likely to start any fires?
I would not place them directly on the counter, however on a small saucer or shallow bowl they should work just fine. Probably would not start any fire or anything that drastic but the heat might discolor some type of finishes.
