How to Use Scented Candles to Give Your Guests the Perfect Gift
There's not much better in life than a get together. It's not quite a party, but - then again - sometimes it is. Whether impromptu or carefully orchestrated, getting your friends and family all together is worth every effort.
Stories are flying back and forth, drinks are being passed around, and if you've got a piano, you know someone's playing it. It might be a dress-up or a dress-down affair, but either way it's important that your home is inviting and the only place your guests could want to be.
Be the perfect host and make sure everyone stays late into the evening; create the right ambience and no one will be checking their watch or making sideways glances at the door. In my experience, a foolproof way to keep people around for ‘just a little while longer' is to light a few scented candles.
They provide the room with not only illumination, but also an appealing and delicate fragrance. With some clever positioning, you can create pools of light which people can't help but cluster around. A large church candle will provide a warm radiance, while an arrangement of tealight candles on the hearth or coffee table provides an attractive focal point. Also, an advantage of using tealights is that they can be replaced as needs be so the arrangement can be renewed as the evening wears on.
Either your living room or dining room is likely to be the central hub of the party, but you'll want other rooms ready for overspill or just a change of pace. If you don't want to worry about an exposed flame, a stylish hurricane candle is a good option; or go completely stress-free with a diffuser.
For those cold evenings, you really want a fragrance that is going to envelope your guests and make them forget about the British weather. My favourite scent for this purpose is the Amber Noir range from Shearer Candles; its dark and exotic aroma tickles the senses. There could be a hailstorm just outside the window, but with an Amber Noir Candle All your guests will feel snug and secure, wrapped in the scents of tuberose, violets and amber.
It can be hard to know what to bring to gatherings, so a couple of gift ideas are always useful. Let someone else bring the wine for once and instead arrive with some scented candles. If there aren't already candles burning, insist that yours are lit. Because it shouldn't only be the wine that brings a glow to your cheeks!
I hope you enjoy plenty of get-togethers soon. And I hope they end in dancing, even if it's just that of the candlelight on the ceiling.
