Make your own aromatherapy Candles Soy
First, you need to get your supplies. The following will make a 18 oz candle.
- 18 oz soy wax flakes (I use EcoSoy Advanced)
- 18 oz Glass Container (I use a Victorian apothecary jar)
- 2 strands of cotton (I use 2 LX-21 bits for a 4 "diameter pot)
- 1 oz fragrance oil, essential oil, or a combination
- dye (I use liquid dye)
- a glass jar that holds at least 22 ounces of liquid (like a jar Ragu - clean bottom of course!)
- stick (I use a resin "wooden spoon)
- Hot gun Glue
- label (optional)
Place wax flakes into the glass jar (pot stew the candle jar) and place them in the microwave for about 3 minutes over high heat. You want the temperature reaches about 200 degrees. You can measure the temperature without thermometer, because once all the flakes are melted, the temperature should be about 180 to 200 degrees.
Be careful! The pot and the wax is very hot! Remove bowl from microwave and let cool for about 10 minutes. Once the temperature is about 160 to 180 degrees, add the fragrance or essential oil. I use the essential oil, but these can be quite expensive. For some of my candles, I use a combination because I have clients who love the smell of cucumber melon, but none of them are essential oils. I will use a fragrance oil and add essential oils to provide health benefits candle. Please be aware: Studies are underway on the toxicity of scented oils. The overuse of synthetic perfumes causes your liver to work overtime. I strongly encourage you to use essential oils when scent your candles. Try orange or lavender. Both are affordable and good smell. Stir the oil in the wax and allow to cool to about 110 to 120 degrees (hot enough to comfortably put your finger in).
While you wait for the wax to cool, place a small bead of hot glue on the bottom of the tab wick and put inside the candle jar. LX-21 using two bits to obtain the same melt in the pot I use. I found that a lock does not cause the wax to melt all the way to the edges and three caused too many flames. Add your dye color to the melted wax at this point. Start with a drop of color and stir. Continue adding one drop at a time until desired color. Stir until color is evenly distributed.
Hot candle jar lightly. I place the pot in a hot oven for a few minutes about 2 or 3. You can also run the jar under hot water, making sure no water gets inside the jar. A hot pot allow the wax adhere better to the edges, reduce the so-called "glazing" or white spots on the finished candle.
Pour slowly cooled wax in the jar, taking the locks in the right seat. Fill up. You can use a wick centering device or something right place, like a knife or a ruler next to the wick to keep them until the wax hardens center, which should take about 1 hour. A Once the wax has hardened, cut the wick to about 1 / 4 "-. Label your candle and you're done, you can burn your candle right away or wait about 24 -! 48 hours when it will be "cured", allowing it to last longer.
